This week’s events in the Golfe of St Tropez (29/04/2019 – 05/05/2019)

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend. Here is a little recap of this coming week’s events. Please enjoy!

Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May :

8th edition of “Les Dames de St Tropez”

Come and watch this beautiful event where women take to the helms of some of the most beautiful traditional yachts of the Mediterranean. 8 yachts participated in the 1st edition in 2012 and 16 in 2013. Since 2014, the limit has been reached with 18 yachts in competition with over 70% of the yachtsmen being yachtswomen!!

3rd, 4th and 5th May :

“La Braderie des commerçants” in Cogolin

The ACE (Association Cogolinoise des Entrepreuneurs) is organising a 3-day braderie in the centre of town. Animations, food tastings and bargains are to be found!

Wednesday 1st May :

Grimaud’s 12th Golf trophy

This competition, starting at 0800 will take place on 2 golf courses :

  • Golf course of Beauvallon : 18-hole competition in strokeplay (1st series) and stableford (2nd and 3rd series)
  • Golf Up : 9-hole competition in stableford (all series combined).

This year again, there are prizes, offered by the shops of Grimaud. The award ceremony, followed by a cocktail will be held at Golf Up from 1830.

Wednesday 1st May :

Oenorando at La Croix Valmer

Discover beautiful landscapes and learn more about the vineyards of the village with a Wset3-certified wine professional.

2-hour hike with breaks – wear walking shoes. Starts 1000 at the tourist office.

Wednesday 1st May :

“Fête de la Petite Maio” in Sainte Maxime

In Provence, on the 1st of May, a young girl and her knight servant were elected for their kindness and helpfulness. Sainte Maxime honours this traditional Provençal celebration where children are honoured.

All dressed in white silk, a sigh of purity, the “little Maio”, crowned with flowers is waiting for the carriage that will come to pick her up to take her to the church and attend mass, sitting beside her knight servant.

She is accompanied by a procession formed by the folk group “Lei Magnoti”. Carriage parades and dances will be part of the show.

1530 : Show at the “Théâtre de la Mer”

Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May :  

“Bravade de Saint-Clément in La Garde Freinet”

The “Bravade de Saint-Clément” is an old tradition of the village of La Garde Freinet. It is celebrated in honour of the Patron Saint, pope and martyr of the 1st century.

The Patron saint of the Parish, Saint-Clément is celebrated every year late April/early May to commemorate the transfer of the saint’s relics to the church of La Garde Freinet.

On Saturday, a procession is made to the chapel of Saint-Clément accompanied by the bravadeurs and fifes players where mass is held.

On Sunday, a big procession takes place following Saint-Clément through the old village with the official reception of our Lady Miremer and Grand’Mess sung at the Parish church.

The commemoration ends with Provençal dances with the participation of fife players and folk groups.


Saturday 4th May : “Soirée dansante” in Grimaud

Dance party organised by “Art en Ciel”. Originating from the Golfe of St Tropez, the artists present on stage will perform live to the greatest French and international soundtracks. Snacks and drinks available on site.
